Earth Day Tips

April is the month of renewal. Flowers start to bloom, trees start to bud and grass becomes green. Boy, 6 long months of Michigan winters make one very appreciative of all that Spring has to offer. April also is National Autism Awareness month and Michigan Wine Month.

My other favorite part of April is EARTH DAY! Earth Day (or month here at Dexter's Super Savvy Mommy) is a time to reflect upon your contributions to the planet. We should all be aware of our impact on the environment and think about ways in which to better our Earth. Here are a few tips that I have come across recently that I really liked:

*If you tend to leave the tap running whilst cleaning your teeth or if you are washing the dishes, then stop. By keeping the water running you are using approximately 9 liters every minute!

*Tell cashiers not to print receipts you don’t need.

*Read the newspaper online to save paper, trees, and carbon (even though I support local and national newspapers-gotta have those crossword puzzles!)

*Use a laptop, not a desktop. Laptops use up to 80% less energy.

*Recycle household paper, plastic, and metals

*Organize a clothing swap with your 10 friends, and save everyone money.

I would love to hear your favorite Green Tips. Let me know and I just may feature your comment in an upcoming post.....
