Dr. Greene Vitamin and Book Review and Giveaway

On Sunday I told you things were going to start picking up on here again! Its about time! Some of my readers have won gift certificates and some have won beauty products. Today I would love to make you beautiful from the inside out. I was given the amazing opportunity to review Dr. Greene's Vitamin line and his new book, "Raising Baby Green."

Raising Baby Green is an illustrated and easy-to-use guide, noted pediatrician Dr. Alan Greene, a leading voice of the green baby movement, advises parents how to make healthy green choices for pregnancy, childbirth, and baby care—from feeding your baby the best food available to using medicines wisely. Consumer advocate Jeanette Pavini includes information for making smart choices and applying green principles to a whole new universe of products from zero-VOC paints for the nursery, to pure and gentle lotions for baby’s delicate skin, to the eco-friendly diapers now in the marketplace, as well as specific recommendations for hundreds of other products.

I wish I would have had this book when I was pregnant with Dexter because it had all of the information in it that I spent hours on the internet searching for. I am going to bring it to work and give it to a friend of mine who is expecting. I know she will appreciate it.

As far as the supplements, I received some amazing products. These are also all of the supplements that the winner will receive!

1. Prenatal Vitamins (complete multivitamin & mineral supplement for expecting and breasting mothers).
2. Omega-3 with EPA and DHA (supports improved mood and baby’s brain & eye growth).
3. Healthy Bone Formula (which calcium, magnesium & vitamin D).
4. Children’s Chewable Multivitamin/Mineral (a good source of calcium for ages 4 and up) – orange flavor.
5. Children’s Chewable Multivitamin/Mineral (a good source of calcium for ages 4 and up) – berry flavor.
6. Toddler Drops (multivitamin with DHA for ages 1-3 years old. DHA is found in breast milk and helps enhance brain and eye development).

I, myself, have been taking the Prenatal Vitamin and the Healthy Bone Formula for a few weeks now. I think that it is essential for any woman, pregnant or not, to get all of the Vitamin D and Calcium that her body needs. I use to drink a lot of milk but because it is so calorie-rich, I have had to subdue my cravings. Taking Dr. Greene's Healthy Bone Formula gives me peace of mind that I am doing what I need in order to get my body back into post-baby shape! The Prenatal Vitamin is also wonderful. I have noticed that it makes me more energized than my old prenatal use to.

The toddler drops! Ingenious! I am so glad that I found a product that Dexter doesn't mind taking. His pediatrician said, and I agree, that it is important for Dexter to take a multivitamin because he is no longer breastfed and he doesn't eat a perfect diet. He is a toddler after all! The drops are convenient and as far as I can tell, tasty!

DrGreene™ Prenatal Vitamin-Specifically formulated with 22 nutrients for the unique needs of women who might conceive or are already pregnant or lactating.

Infused with life’sDHA™, a plant-derived form of DHA found in breast milk and all quality infant formulas, this formula provides many of the nutrients required for this especially demanding time of developing body and mind. For ages 1-3 years.

Thank you to the wonderful people at TwinLab and to Dr. Greene himself, one lucky winner will be able to win all of the supplements listed above and a copy of Dr. Greene's book "Raising Baby Green" All you have to do to win is tell me what vitamins/supplements your family is currently taking and why you think it is important for your family to take vitamins/supplements. If you are not taking anything right now just make sure you have a good reason as to why not ;)

I take adult multi vitamins and my son takes children's vitamins. I think they are important because we might be missing things we need in the foods we eat or do not eat on a daily basis. Taking vitamins helps offset that.

We all take multi vitamins, Calcium and Vitamin D. Then there are the occasional immune boosters, Vitamin C and probiotics. I think it is so important to take vitamins just to make sure we're getting all the nutrients we need. We eat a great diet but we have better and worse days!

My son takes Flintstone vitamins, which he likes. My daughter takes infant vitamin drops, which she hates. I take One a Day vitamins, when I can remember to.

In this fast life we are unable to take care of our diet so to ensure a proper diet I take multi vitamins and also make sure whether my child is getting his share too.

Well I would love to try these products for sure, after 4 kids I know how important it is keep health up.. especially calcium. My daughter is just under 1 so I would love to try the drops as I do believe in everything organic for her. The toddle supplements would be great as my 4 year old is a VERY picky eater. We eat as green as we can so this would be great to try. And I love books. lil_lolas@hotmail.com

We are not taking supplements right now, aside from probiotics. We eat an organic, largely vegetarian diet. I know there are many claims that even with such a diet, since much of our growing soil in the US has been depeleted of minerals (such as Selenium), we need to use supplements. I have been trying to find the best ones on the market. I like Dr. Greene and didn't know he came out with his own line. Thanks for the chance!
