UV Skinz Review and Giveaway

Those who know me know that I am passionate about protecting Dexter from the sun (among many other dangerous things). As a mom I also know how important it is for him to be out and about outside so that he can breathe in Michigan's clean, fresh air and so that his body can make some Vitamin D. I am thrilled to tell you about a company today that has drastically changed the way that I look at sun protection and skin cancer.

UV Skinz was founded in 2005 by a wonderfully spirited woman named Rhonda. Unfortunately Rhonda's husband Darren died at the young age of 32 due to skin cancer. He left behind three gorgeous boys and Rhonda not only wanted to honor her husband but she wanted to do so by protecting others from the sun's harmful rays. Rhonda sent Dexter the Ethan top in Navy and the Baby Board Shorts in Navy.. I love everything about these two pieces. Not only do they fit incredibly well but they also launder just as well. They haven't faded or shrunk either. What I especially love about UV Skinz is that UV Skinz swim shirts block out over 98% of the sun's harmful rays and keeps sunscreen use to a minimum on your child's precious skin! Not only is that amazing but they are pretty chic at the same time.

My husband thought it was weird that I wanted to put a shirt on Dexter when going to the beach. I told him that more boys are wearing swim tops now because parents are attuned to the dangers of the sun. Did you know that Skin cancer is 100% preventable if caught early! Protecting your skin during the first 18 years of life can reduce the risk of some types of skin cancer by up to 78% I remind my husband of this every time he scoffs at me for putting Dexter's UV Skinz. Do you know how happy I was when the three of us went to the beach only to find about 4 other boys wearing shirts! I looked at Jason and said "HA!" I think it was then that he got it. I have also been known to say to him (when he laughs at me being over protective) "I am his mother and it is my job to protect him from all the evils of the world"

Dexter doesn't mind wearing his UV Skinz shirt at all! As a matter of fact, I think he enjoys it. It helps keep him warmer while at the beach.
