-Slick back hair with comb
-Pull small piece of hair forward & wrap it once around your finger and then press to set on forehead!

GIVEAWAY~Seventh Generation Million Baby Crawl CLOSED

Seventh Generation needs your help making our nation’s outdated chemical law tougher, in order to make the world safer for our children. Join us in spreading the word about the Million Baby Crawl to help educate and empower parents to raise their voices for stronger standards on toxic chemicals.

Did you know that…
*In the 33 years since Congress passed that nation’s chemical regulatory law, the Toxic Substances Control Act (TCSA), the Environmental Protection Agency has required testing on just 200 of the more than 80,000 chemical compounds developed for products used in the home.
*Under the current law, the EPA does not have the authority to demand the information it needs to evaluate a chemical’s risk, and neither manufacturers nor the EPA are required to prove a chemical’s safety as a condition of use.
*1.25 million kids younger than six are unintentionally poisoned in the home each year by things like cosmetics and personal care products, cleaning substances, pain relievers and cough and cold medicines (American Association of Poison Control Centers)
*Studies show that nearly 200 industrial chemicals and pollutants have been found in the umbilical cord blood of newborns (EWG).

Boiron is Here to Help Your Child Fight the Flu

If you are anything like me you HATE it when your children are sick. The screaming, whining, sleeplessness. I feel helpless and awful when Dexter is sick. He takes a multi-vitamin everyday and it is supplemented with herbs and greens such as hesperidin, peppermint, spinach, chamomile, licorice, nettles, anise, millefolium, plantago, equisetum, and alfalfa. We try and ward off sickness before it starts. That also means an insane amount of hand washing with an all natural hand soap such as one that is made by EcoStore USA

When your children, or yourself for that matter, are unfortunate enough to get sick there are several ways to get better quicker. One tried and true remedy is lots of rest, Vitamin C and Zinc. Another excellent way is by the use of Boiron. They deal with homeopathy.

Who is Boiron you may ask?
New to help parents are Children’s Oscillococcinum to nip flu-like symptoms in the bud and Children’s Coldcalm Pellets, a multi-symptom cold reliever. Along with Children’s Chestal for all types of coughs, these homeopathic medicines work safely and naturally without causing side effects and they won’t interact with other medications. They do not contain any of the ingredients questioned by the FDA for use in young children. All three are sweet-tasting and kid-friendly. All three are from Boiron, world leader in homeopathy and maker of Oscillococcinum®, which has been relied upon by families around the world for more than 65 years.

What are the benefits?
*Work safely and naturally without side effects or drug interactions.
*Does not contain any of the ingredients questioned by the FDA for use in young children.
*No risks of overdosing.
*Children’s Oscillococcinum and Children’s Coldcalm Pellets are sweet-tasting, kid-friendly, melt-aways that dissolve quickly . *No water, chewing or swallowing is required. Sweet Children’s Chestal uses the natural goodness of honey as a base to instantly coat and soothe the throat.
*For more than 65 years, Oscillococcinum has worked naturally to reduce both the duration and the severity of flu and flu-like symptoms. Now Children’s Oscillococcinum is available to nip these symptoms in the bud. Like Oscillo it should be taken at the first sign of feeling achy or rundown with fever or chills.
*While many cold medicines treat only a symptom or two, newly launched Children’s Coldcalm Pellets is a complete multi-symptom cold reliever for sneezing, runny nose, nasal congestion and minor sore throat pain.
*Children’s Chestal cough syrups simplify the process of choosing a cough medicine by creating an economical all-in-one formula to relieve all types of coughs due to minor throat and bronchial irritation that may occur with a cold. This multi-cough option relieves coughs as well as loosens chest congestion.
*Children’s Oscillococcinum and Children’s Chestal are for children older than 2; Children’s Coldcalm Pellets is for children older than 3.

Visit Boiron today and print a $1 off coupon. They also have a lot of wonderful information about homeopathy and how it can be used to make you and your loved ones feel better after symptoms have begun.

3 Tips for Getting Dinner on the Table in a Flash

TwitterMoms recently asked if I had any tips for getting dinner on the table in a flash. The truth is that I put together dinner in a flash 95% of the time. The other 5% of the time I actually focus on a real meal. Don't get me wrong, the food I feed my family is real, its just not fancy (that same 95% of the time)

TIPS
*Spend one day sauteeing vegetables and cooking pasta/rice etc for use in meals for the rest of the week. I can't tell you how EASY it is to whip up a quick cheese sauce and you have instant Mac and Cheese (from scratch) for lunch. I never buy preservative laden food. My son has never eaten boxed Mac and Cheese!

*Wash All Fruits and Veggies after grocery shopping so you can grab and cook through out the week. Keep fresh herbs in a glass of water in the fridge. There are few veggies that will spoil sooner after being washed. Make sure you use within one week.

*Organize your recipes by prep/cook time as well as categorizing the meal. For instance:
-15 Minute Dinners
-20 Minute Dinners
So on and so forth. It is also nice to tag the main ingredients with Post It tags (if you have a binder type recipe folder)

I hope that all of my tips can help you get dinner on the table in a flash. I am always up for answering questions and hearing your ideas of how you get dinner prepared in a flash!!

French's 2009 Cook-Off Recipe Contest Entry

I love love love cooking. I recently won the Yum Yum Snacks Meatless Monday recipe contest with my Spaghetti Squash Pizza recipe. I will share that later. When I first heard about the French's Cook-Off 2009 Recipe Contest I just had to enter. I have several fabulous recipes that use French's Mustard but I was thinking simplicity this year. Here is my (hopefully) winning entry!

Nana's Sloppy Joes

1# ground beef
1 cup chopped celery
1 package of onion soup mix
2 tablespoons of flour
1 1/2 cups of water
1 tablespoon of Heinz ketchup
1 teaspoon of French's Classic Yellow Mustard

Brown beef and celery until tender. Stir to separate meat. Stir in soup mix, flour, water, ketchup and mustard. Simmer for 10 minutes and serve on warm buttered buns! The messier the better! I always serve mine with potato chips because I love to scoop up the fallen meat with the chips! YUMMY!

My Pumpkin Patch

Last year, after Halloween was over and the pumpkins began to rot, my husband threw our pumpkins out behind our rose bushes. All throughout the winter, into the spring and summer those pumpkin seeds that didn't seem to make the cut from when I was cleaning them out of their homes began sprouting. Who would have thought?! My husband noticed them sprawling all over about a month ago and now we have a pumpkin patch! Our very own!! We don't have to go to some commercialized place now and over pay for the atmosphere. I let Dexter wonder through the patch yesterday and I followed closely with my camera. Here are a few of my favorites, including, but not limited to pictures of him kissing, hugging and sitting on the pumpkins!

Today is the Big Day!

Today U of M plays MSU in East Lansing. My husband is a big State fan and I bleed Maize n Blue. I had to wait until he left for work before I got Dexter dressed for the day. He would have been really mad if he saw this:
