Do you think this could be a great Christmas card photo?

GreenSmart Review and Giveaway-CLOSED!

Congratulations EcoFriendly and Frugal (sounds like we have a lot in common!)

Is your laptop protected? I know mine is because I sport a GreenSmart Neogreene laptop sleeve. This unbelievably chic and ultra-cool sleeve is not only protective but it is GREEN! How green you ask? Well check out the message on the sleeve itself to find out.

You wouldn't dream of putting your hot laptop into an insulated sleeve right? Well you don't have to worry about the Neogreene because it helps to cool your laptop fast! It is double insulated and waterproof!! There are two zippers for easy use and best of all, it fits my 15" MacBook Pro like a charm! See for yourself.

How does it work when traveling you ask? Well lucky for you (and me!) I went to NYC last week to meet Dr. Alan Greene and I brought my laptop (of course). It was so easy for me to pull the sleeve out of my bag in order to go through security. It was easy for me to pull my computer out so I could take advantage of the hotel and airport's free WiFi. And best of all, my computer is still safe! No safer than had I left it at home. They make their neogreene is a variety of sizes. If you are uber lucky and have a 17" MacBook, you are in luck because they make a HUGE sleeve for you. If you have a 13" laptop, guess what? You're covered too!

Being green is important to me. This is no secret. I am so happy that I have finally found a company, GreenSmart that takes being green as seriously as I do. They make a variety of cool products for home and office.

If you would like to be the lucky new owner of a neogreene laptop sleeve then today is your day. My friends at GreenSmart will generously give one lucky winner their choice of neogreene sleeve. Which size would you want to win? Let me know in your comment. Also let me know one other product that they carry that you would like to win. Maybe Santa will bring it for you this year. There must be a way for me to contact the winner. If your email address IS NOT in your profile then you must leave it for me or you will forfeit your prize.

Green Toys Review and Giveaway

Not only do I love the color green but I also love being green. As Kermit the Frog says, "its not easy being green". He sure nailed that concept on the head. Green Toys helps make it easier to be green.

Start Simple: Recycled Plastic Milk Jugs
We use recycled milk containers as the main ingredient in creating our toys. Yes, the exact plastic milk jugs that you and your family drink from every day. When you finish your milk and toss the container in the recycling bin, these milk containers are collected at your curb by a local recycling company, who then sorts them from all the other types of plastic. Next, the milk containers are reprocessed into super clean fresh plastic. For you plastic geeks, the plastic material we use is called high-density polyethylene (or HDPE). This material is considered one of the safest, cleanest plastics around.

All Green Toys products are 100% made in the USA. To be more specific, they are produced in California, a state known for strict toy safety and environmental laws. It's cool to buy USA, but also think about this: transportation is one of the biggest contributors to greenhouse gasses.

Our toys are truly local creations. Every step in the process, from milk container recycling to toy production to final assembly, occurs in California. Our raw materials and toys aren't shipped from overseas, which saves a lot of energy and reduces greenhouse gasses. It also guarantees your toys won't get seasick before they get to your home.

I chose to review the Green Toys Recycling Truck. The cool thing about this truck starts on the box. Not only is the box made from recycled paper (duh!) but there are cute little recyclables printed on the box that you can cut out and sort in the back of the truck! I like that the truck is completely sturdy and will not break easily while Monster Mister Dexter plays with it. I also, obviously, love that it is Eco-friendly and recyclable. Not that I will be getting rid of it any time soon! Dexter likes that he can fit a lot of things in the back of the truck since the gate opens wide. He can fit his little stuffed Elmo in it and he thinks that is the best!

The Recycling Truck was also named Disney's FamilyFun #3 Toy of the Year!

How would you love the opportunity to win a fantastic Green Toy for your little one just in time for Christmas? Well, thats right, you can win your choice of either the Recycling Truck, Dump Truck or Tea Set. All you need to do is head over to Green Toys and pick out your favorite toy. Then come back here and tell me which toy you like the most AND which toy you would like to win. Make sure I have a way to email you so you can know you won!

Fresh Organics Review and Giveaway

Fresh Organics was born in 2008 to produce the first Organic Baby products. The company is a small 'extended family' who all share the Christian values of honesty, integrity and service. We are grateful for this opportunity to make a difference - even in a small way. Good things start small and we believe that, with our hard work and faith, we can grow our company while still keeping it Fresh and Organic!

What a great statement! They not only care about what goes into their products but they care about who their products will be used on! It is rare to find a honest company that is dedicated to keeping it Fresh! (No pun intended. Ok, maybe it was intended).

On their website you will find a list of the Chemicals to Avoid. A recent study that I just read suggests that women who wear makeup wear upwards to 515 chemicals on their body every day! Educating yourself is one of the best ways to protect yourself. Fresh Organic's list is a great start!

For my review Fresh Organics sent me their full size Baby Body Wash/Shampoo, Babee Lotion and Baby Bubble Bath. They also sent a 4-pack of all four items that they make including their Baby Bottom Balm.

As for each review that I post, I use the items on myself as well as on Dexter.

The Shampoo/Body Wash Combo is really nice. It is super thick and makes rich suds. That is hard to find with all natural organic products. The shampoo even worked well on my hair (without the use of a conditioner) That is not an easy feat. What I liked when using it on Dexter was the fact that I could get his hair washed and then take all the illustrious suds and slather the rest of his body with it! One squirt went a long way!

The Baybee Lotion is perfect. I have a hard time sharing this one because I love it. Not only is it thick and creamy but it is not at all greasy and it helps tame my ashy skin. I have the driest, most cracked skin ever this time of year and I haven't had a problem at all. In fact I have already used up the travel size that I kept in my purse so I had to refill it with my big tube! I have used this on Dexter's face when it looks like it is getting a little baby acne and it clears it up overnight. Poor baby might have my dry skin! Arrrggh

I have used the Baby Bubble Bath a couple of times and it makes a nice amount of bubbles. It is not the kind that over take the bath so you have a hard time finding your child! I don't typically put bubble bath in Dexter's bath water because he drinks his bath water. I see no need for him to drink extra bubble bath. It is bad enough that he drinks shampoo water and such. That is another reason why all-natural, chemical-free products are so important to use with children.

All of Fresh Organics products retail for $7.99. That is a steal for Organic products. Even their travel kit retails for a mere $7.99.

We as parents need to educate ourselves about what we are putting on ourselves and on our children. It is just as important what you put into your body as what you put on to your body. I certainly wouldn't want to put known carcinogens all over Dexter's skin (or my own for that matter).

Fresh Organics was generous enough to offer one reader the opportunity to win each of their full size products and one travel kit as well! That is a $40 prize! Just head over to the Fresh Organic Website and tell me one of the chemicals they warn to stay away from. Tell me why it is scary.

Dora Christmas Carol Show!!

Watch Dora's Christmas Carol Adventure Dec. 6 on Nickelodeon
Favorite Holiday Activities with Kids

Who doesn't love Dora? Dexter calls her Dor Dor but what ever you call her she is pure entertainment. I love all her cute saying and little Spanish accent. As part of the TwitterMoms Dora Christmas Carol contest I was asked what my 5 favorite things to do with Dexter on the holidays.

Here they are in no particular order:

*Bake Cookies (I bake, he eats)
*Make drawings/painting/construction paper decorations
*Drink Hot Chocolate (mine spiked with peppermint shnapps, his spiked with milk!)
*Play in the leaves (Thanksgiving) or the snow (Christmas)
*Read Holiday themed books and cuddle by the fire!!

Don't forget to tune into Nickelodeon on 12/6 at 8EST to watch Dora's Christmas Carol. I know we'll be TiVoing it for Dexter to watch when he wakes up! He is usually in bed by 8:30

My Black Friday Plan of Attack

To tell you the truth I have never braved a Black Friday before. I do not go over board on gifts so why bother, right? Well, this year is different. I have an almost 2 year old and I will be buying him countless toys! I really want to get him a ride-on type toy, maybe something that connects to the TV for hours of enjoyment. I also really really need a portable dishwasher. I am so sick of hand washing dishes!! I have been looking online at Target, Home Depot and Best Buy to see which items I really must get up at the butt crack of dawn for. As for a game plan, I am just researching now and will attack come Friday morning. Join TwitterMoms and tell us your Black Friday plan of Attack!

Green Pan Review

So, in keeping true to my Green Christmas theme, I bring you Green Pan. Green Pan makes very stylish (yes, I said stylish) cookware. I am guilty for using non-stick pans and I was aware that they emitted a gas that the EPA recognizes as a known human carcinogen. I just didn't know another alternative existed, until now!

Last night I made tacos. I usually have a large clean up afterwards because I add tomato sauce to my meat (shhhh, don't tell, it's my secret!) I took a series of pictures to show you how the Green Pan fared.

I found that my meat cooked at least 25% quicker using the Green Pan than my old nasty pan. That is amazing because I don't have all the time in the world for myself so I will save time where ever I can! As you can tell by the last picture, the pan came clean! Right-away. It was really awesome because I wasn't expecting it to be so easy to clean. The only down fall to this pan is the fact that it scratches easily so I am very extremely careful when using it because I don't want to it scratch. Perhaps I will have to get a hanging rack to hang my pans (when I get more Green Pans) so that they don't scratch. They also hold up to temperatures of 850 degrees!! WHOA!

This pan came from the Todd English collection. It looks so sharp with its gray interior, black exterior and stainless steel cover! You can head over and purchase these Green Pans at HSN I will keep you updated in the next coming weeks as to how well the pan holds up over time.

Green Christmas GIVEAWAY-Explorers Bounty-CLOSED!

Once in a while a company comes along that grabs my attention. It takes a lot to impress me. I have seen a lot of companies claiming to be green and rarely do they make an impression on me. Explorer's Bounty not only has held my attention but they have impressed me greatly.

"At Explorer's Bounty, we journey back to the days of classical antiquity when adventurers crisscrossed the globe in search of the finest commodities. Our mission, however, is not to find unspoiled land or seafarer shortcuts. We're looking for sustainable farming and organic products worth writing home about. Farms that employ traditional methods are hard to come by, despite our wanderlust for finding them. Despite the pressure to take the easy route, every Explorer's Bounty product is USDA certified organic. From field to shelf, we bring you products that are grown, processes and packaged in accordance with the highest organic stands. We believe we must go back to the past to preserve the future."

They are absolutely right. Their products are worth writing home about! For review, I received some of their puffed fruit, coffee and tea. The coffee and teas were delicious but the puffed fruit stole the show. Dexter, being 20 months old, can sometimes be a picky eater. Their puffed fruit is not only organic but they are made without any added sweeteners. The star of the show is the fruit itself. They make dried bananas, plantains and pineapple. I really loved the pineapple myself and Dexter took to the bananas. The puffed fruit was crunchy and different. I love how convenient it is to carry fruit around to feed him as a healthy alternative to fruit snacks. I would never give Dexter a real banana to run around the living room with. But Explorer's Bounty puffed fruit, heck yeah! I give him a bowl and watch him mow! Its great.

Explorer's Bounty also makes chocolate covered cashews that I am dying to try. I am a nut freak and these sound great. One lucky winner will be awarded with a WONDERFUL prize from Explorer's Bounty. One lucky winner will receive a Holiday Sharing Basket containing their coffee, teas and crackers. This is a $50 prize!

In order to win you must visit Explorer's Bounty and come back here and tell me something that you learned from their site.

EcoFont to Save Money and Ink--GENIUS!!

(I got this picture from Urban Ecoist)

Eco Font, who would have thought!? Even if you aren't out to save the planet, saving money is just as important as ever, right. You can download this awesome font, FOR FREE by visiting the link above.

The picture above illustrates how the Ecofont was created by omitting parts of the letter. At the shown size, this obviously is not very nice, but at a regular font size it is actually very usable. Naturally, the results vary depending on your software and the quality of your screen. The Ecofont works best in OpenOffice, AppleWorks and MS Office 2007. Printing with a laser printer will give the best printing results.

The Ecofont is based on the Vera Sans, an Open Source letter, and is available for Windows, Mac OSX and Linux.

It took me all of about 1 minute to download and use. I am impressed. I will let you know now, I am all about Eco Font. As a matter of fact they don't even know I love it yet. They didn't pay me to tell you about it, after all, they are offering it for free, right?!

Pardon me as I drool.....

This could be my new view looking down at my Eco-friendly computer! What you say, eco-friendly what? THATS right! Apple now made their iMac eco-friendly. I am so in love.

To read more about what Apple is doing, head to their website and check out this beauty for yourself!!

Fancast--Watch TV Shows Online

I love Greys Anatomy, Private Practice and Desperate Housewives. When I was pregnant I would lay around all day and watch my TiVo while on Maternity Leave. Then, when Dexter was born, TiVo was still my best friend. When we moved a few months later, DirecTV gave us an HD DVR. I, being a HUGE TiVo fan appreciated this new DVR but unfortunately, so did my husband. You see, I was the one who bought and paid for the old TiVo that we owned. He called it stupid and never used it. Well, well, look at who is obsessed with his DVR now! He records anything and everything. His queue is HUGE. Needless to say, some of my shows fell by the wayside. Desperate Housewives conflicted with Dexter, Weeds and other lovelies from Showtime and I just missed too many episodes.

Enter this new season of Greys and Private Practice. My DVR wouldn't record either show!! OMG, I was on vacation and had both shows up to queue and then NOTHING! I came home so excited for both premieres and then NOTHING but big fat disappointment. Eventually I got two weeks behind because like most of you, TV doesn't come first in my life. One day, when Dexter went to nap, I went online to so I could watch my shows. Much to my dismay, wasn't streaming. I thought for sure that the TV Gods just didn't like me! I went to google and typed in "Watch Greys Anatomy" I went to many sites but almost all of them rerouted me to like an affiliate. How dumb! Well, I finally found Fancast.

Fancast allowed me to enter the site, click Watch Full Episodes, Search for Greys, push Play and I was watching the show....JUST LIKE THAT!

* Fancast debuted in January 2008 and now has more than 10,000 hours of online video programming; with more than 60,000 videos available, including over 13,000 full-length shows (more are being added every day)

* Fancast is not only an agnostic online video site, aggregating tv content from more than 100 sources (including Hulu by the way), but Fancast has more TV extras than any other site including: movies, pictorials, blogs, listings, live chats and Q&A;'s with stars, and much more.

A site like this gives us (busy moms like you and me) the ability to watch some of our favorite shows whenever WE have time. There are limited commercial breaks but it’s not a whole block of them so personally, it doesn’t bother me at all. It’s a quick blip and back to the show. We’re all multi-tasking anyway so I don’t find it to be a distraction. Plus, that sponsor support is what keeps the site free so it’s understandable, right?

A couple other nice features of Fancast. While watching, you can make the screen full or have for your viewing pleasure. You can also send a particular clip via email, Facebook etc. Niiiiice.

I was impressed by Fancast because the site is clean/streamlined, you don't need to register and you can watch your shows within a minute of visiting the site. What are you waiting for, go catch up on your shows now.

This review is brought to you by One2One Network. I was not compensated for this review. I do occasionally receive perks for being a One2One Member.

Kind Letter I Wrote to PR Company

......Thanking them for offering to toxify my family...

Thank you for your email. Even though Baby Magic may be trusted by parents for over 100 years, we do not use products in our home that contain Parabens, Phthalates, Sodium Lauryl/Laureth Sulfates or, most importantly formaldehyde causing agents such as Quaternium-15 or Polyquaternium-10. It is just as important what we put on our bodies as it is what goes into our bodies. Raising awareness about these ingredients unfortunately found in Baby Magic is how we as a nation can start to get healthy once again.
