Better Baby Bums Diaper Review and Giveaway {CLOSED}

I was recently asked to take part in the Better Baby Bums Blog Tour. I was so excited first of all because I am all about trying new diapers and second, because these diapers are BIODEGRADABLE!!


I was sent a pack of Broody Chick 100% Natural and Fully Compostable Diapers to review. When I first opened the package (which is a cardboard box!) I noticed that the diapers were really soft. I was impressed to learn that these diapers are the first fully compostable disposable diaper on the market! They also happen to be chlorine-free, plastic-free, and feature a plant-based absorbent gel.

I have used these diapers during the day and overnight. They haven't leaked (when changed after an ample amount of time) but the all natural gel is hard to detect. I typically use Pampers on Dexter. When they are really wet they get squishy and I know it is time for a change. The Broody Chick diapers are much more firm and rigid so it is harder to detect wetness.

What I love about these diapers:
*They are compostable. All you would need to do is empty the solids into the toilet first and then lay your diaper in your compost pile. Seeing as though it is winter here in Michigan, I wasn't able to put the diaper to the compost test!
*They are absorbent and hold in moisture/solids quite well.
*They are chlorine-free!

Things that need improvement:
*Hard to move in because of rigid cotton (Dexter kept tugging at his diaper)
*The top flap of the diaper is really wide and it hangs out of the pants
*Hard to detect how wet the diaper truly is
*Price is $15.99 for 28 diapers or roughly $.57 per diaper compared to $.28 each for my Pampers

Overall I think that the environmental benefits of these diapers outweigh the cosmetic/design caveats. They are very absorbent and they are great for the environment. Who can argue with that? I, myself, wouldn't use these diapers again only because it was obvious that Dexter wasn't comfortable with them. The part of the diaper that fits between the legs, in the crotch area is 4" in the Broody Chicks and only 3 3/8" in the Pampers. Perhaps it is the 1/2" that makes these diapers a little more uncomfortable for him.


I was also sent a pack of Bambo Nature diapers. Bambo Nature Eco-Friendly diapers are the hottest seller in the EU. Made in Denmark, these diapers have the highest standards for environmental and health standards in the US. Super soft with a superior fit, these are top choice for us. 100% biodegradable. Available in sizes preemie all the way to X Large.

Unlike the Broody Chicks, the Bambo Nature diapers feature nice, colorful bunnies on the band. That makes them a winner with Dexter as he loves anything that is colorful and playful. Unfortunately the size that they sent me were way too big for my little guy. The diapers themselves were not as soft as the Broody Chicks diapers but they weren't as wide in the crotch area either.

Whenever you talk to other Moms about diapers you are opening a real mixed bag. What works for some babies definitely is not guaranteed to work on the next. I welcome you to read some other reviews of the Broody Chicks diapers.
