Tidy Books Review and Giveaway {CLOSED}

March is National Reading Month and I am here to celebrate with you. Seeing as though I am a Highly-Qualified (thanks to NCLB) Elementary Reading Teacher it is no surprise that I was reading to Dexter well before birth. When I was pregnant with him I use to read "Oh Baby the Places You'll Go" I loved that book so much and I know Dexter loved it too because he would kick and wiggle when I would read it. It was our special time. I have to admit that Dexter owns over 100 books. I could easily say 150 but I don't want to sound obsessive! He loves Sandra Boynton, Eric Carle and Dr. Seuss to name a few. Up until recently his books were housed on a shelf that was easy for him to reach. At least once a day he would charge up to the shelf and clear all of the books off in one fell swoop. It drove me batty! I knew there had to be a better way to organize all of Dexter's books. The search lead me to Tidy Books and I fell in love at first sight!

Look at most of Dexter's board books all nestled into his beautiful Tidy Books bookcase!

This wonderful bookcase is made from sustainable sources which is very important to me! It also comes in your choice of four colors; white, blue, pink or natural. You also can choose from upper case letters, lower case letters or no letters. I chose the natural color with lower case letters. I love how adorable the bookcase is, with or without books in it! The amazing part is that this bookcase can also hold up to 85 books of all shapes and sizes. That is a lot of books. I have limited the number of books that I store in the bookcase to about 35. This is because I don't let Dexter play with all of his books because he isn't always so nice to them. I want to preserve some until he is a little bit older and more responsible.

The Tidy Books bookcase is shipped flat and must be assembled upon receipt. This took my husband about 15 minutes to do. Real easy! Another feature that I LOVE about this bookcase is the fact that it affixes to the wall so that kids cannot pull it down on them self. It only sticks out a few inches! So not only is this bookcase handmade by the sweetest lady in the UK but it is made with Sustainable Materials and it is adorable. Plus Plus Plus in my book!

I cannot tell you how much having the Tidy Books bookcase has changed the way Dexter not only treats his books but also how he picks out which books he wants to read. I am absolutely sure that you would love to own one of these beauties yourself, wouldn't you? All I ask is that you visit Tidy Books and find one item or fact that you would like to share with me. It can be anything. If you are creative, you may get an extra entry from me!

Nice bookcase! And ooh, they have a littler version to use with bunk beds. I love that idea!

the creator states:
I designed the Tidy Books bookcase to work for children and to be practical, to enable them to explore their books independently.The alphabet on the bookcase was added so that children could learn while playing casually and gradually. Many Parents have told me how much kids love their books and how important they are. The Tidy Books bookcase displays books to their full effect, giving them a central place in the home.

I especially love this because I am a librarian and these things are close to my heart...amazing product

I love the little cabin puzzle, that's cool and would be great at a friend's cabin. What I really love, though, is that the alphabet on this bookcase you reviewed is reversable so the bookcase can become something for an older child nor a non-playroom area of the home. That's my biggest gripe in buying kids' stuff, that I spend a bunch of money now but then in 8 years when he decides he's too "old" for stuff with letters on it, I have to buy all new furniture.

I think the Tidy Box is great. I get giddy over organizing. I love every aspect of it. My favorite saying is "A place for everything and everything in it's place." My hubby, on the other hand, is a polar opposite. He lives by the motto "Leave it where it lays, she'll put it in the trash eventually." So with that bit of trivia, I'm definitely going to try to teach my little one to be organized. This would be super cute in the living room. I could also get one for the hubby for all his junk mail and 15 remote controls! Maybe the fact it would be within reach of the couch would be a motivator. :-)

Other than the bookcase, I also really love the Tidy Box. The Tidy box would be perfect to have in my house because my 6 year old is learning to read and he has a lot of books that he is always reading in the living room and they always end up all over the floor. The Tidy box would be a great place for him to keep his book in nice and neat in the living room.

There were really some clever ideas on the website. I especially like the Tidy Box. It can be carted around and the clock can be used to teach telling time.
The feature I like about the Tidy Books Bookcase is that it is shallow - so it doesn't take up much floor space; but is designed so that the child can see the fronts of many books so he can choose.

My favorite item from the Tidy Books website is their bookcase in natural. What a fantastic and attractive way to store children's books! I also liked the Tidy Box and thought it would be a great book storage and tote box.

I never thought about the fact that children don't choose books from the spine but from the cover until I read it on the Tidy Books site. But that fact is so true! I love the fact that the Tidy Books bookcase displays the front of the books and accomodates books of all sizes. What an easy, tidier way for a child to remove a book and leave the rest of the books in place as opposed to the way the books fall over in a regular bookcase when one book is pulled out.

Thank you for offering this wonderful giveaway!
