Inner Waves Organic Review and Giveaway {closed}

Winner Comment 115 katklaw

I have shared many different organic yoga wear companies with you lately but today let me introduce you to Inner Waves Organic. What sets Inner Waves apart from the competition is their attention to detail. They are a small, family-run company that produces all of their organic yoga wear in the United States. Two huge pluses in my book! All of the fabrics that are used to create the wonderful pieces of Inner Waves clothing is made specifically for their company and no other. How cool is that? Because all of the workmanship takes place in the US their prices are a little higher than other company's organic yoga wear but to me, buying US is worth it!

I chose to review their Moana Capri.

I am so happy that I chose this capri. It is tight and easy to move in thanks in part to the little bit of Lycra that is used to ease in mobility. The bottom of the capri came just at my knee which, to me, is the perfect length! Sometimes, when I am doing triangle pose I have a hard time with the fit of my pants. If they are too loose then my hand doesn't stay put on my ankle and when they are perfect, so is my pose. These capris are not only the right length but also the perfect yoga pants. There are 7 colors to choose from but I chose black since it will go with more tops! Some of my favorite tops of theirs include the Wahine tank, and the Lokahi Jacket.

Inner Waves best seller happens to be the Moana Pant. It comes in 9 color choices and is also made from the finest organic cotton! These would be perfect for a nice run on the beach or for practicing yoga poses. They retail for $68 but today you have the chance to win a pair. Consider it my early Earth Month kick off. What I would like for you to do is head over to Inner Waves and do one of two things. First, tell me one fact that you learned on their website. Let me give you a hint, the Organic section is full of awesome facts and second, tell me what you favorite item is other than one I talked about.

Sustainable Kids Review and Giveaway {closed}

Winner is comment #70-skipthelaundry

My quest for organic, eco-chic boy's clothing recently lead me to Sustainable Kids. There are several important factors that play a role in my supporting of a company. I will not buy from a company that claims to be "organic" or "all natural" unless they can back it up with their mantra/mission statement. From the moment I landed on Sustainable Kids, I was impressed. Not only are all of their clothes made from sustainable resources but they are also made in the United States! Yay! The collection is Boys and Girls apparel, size 2T-14. All dyes are GOTS-certified low impact, and some custom colors are completely dye-free and colored from proprietary blends of plants and teas. Graphic screen printing inks are lead and phthalate free.

One important item that I feel makes Sustainable Kids stand out in a crowd is the fact that each order comes with a postage-paid box that allows the consumer to place goods, such as toothpaste, toothbrushes and other necessities, which is then sent to orphans in Haiti! What a mission. I am almost finished packing mine to the gills with essentials for these orphans.

So, Sustainable Kids really is sustainable but are their clothes cute? See for yourself.
How cute is this brave thermal?
It fit Dexter perfectly but it seemed a little short in the torso. Seeing as though my son is a peanut I never thought that he may have a long torso. It would make sense though seeing as though his legs and butt are short and super tiny!

I would love to bless one winner with a Sustainable Kids boy's shirt. The shirt will be a surprise design! Cool! You just need to head over to Sustainable Kids and tell me where can you buy SK Clothing. Come back here and let me know and also tell me which size shirt you would like to win. Include your email address if it isn't in your profile so I can contact you when you win.

What Reviews/Giveaways Would You Like To See?

I am constantly striving to bring you the latest and greatest products for you and for your children. I rarely take the time to ask what it is that you want to see reviewed. So, here's your chance to tell me some ideas of what YOU would like to see on DSSM.

I am planning a couple of campaigns shortly involving Earth Month and Happy Healthy Pregnancy so it could fit in with those themes or not. Also be sure to tell me if there is something that you DON'T want to see. Easy enough, right?

Thanks for all of your support. The more you read and visit my site the more awesome products I am able to introduce you to!

On a side note, I had to include an Easter Egg picture because I love pretty eggs and I can't wait for Easter :) I actually use to have a rabbit named Eaaster and don't ask me why I chose to have a rabbit. That thing pooped all over my house (I was a naive college kid) and it chewed everything I owned! I gave him to a farmer to loved him and probably ate him. Ok, enough of that story.

Livie and Luca Review and Giveaway

I am a sucker for super cute shoes for Dexter to wear. Wearing a size 10 I have the hardest time finding anything that is remotely appealing to me. A few months ago I came across Livie and Luca and it was immediately love at first sight! They make children's shoes using the softest, buttery leather for ultimate comfort and breathability! They graciously allowed me to do a review of their Romano boy's shoes in Navy and boy are these stunning!

I love that they are sandals and will let Dexter's feet breathe in the summer but they are also protective! Dexter is a boy through and through and it is important that his little piggies are safe from sticks/stones and whatever else he deems necessary to kick!

Livie and Luca also make precious girl's shoes. I better hope that the little baby inside of me right now is a boy otherwise I am in T-R-O-U-B-L-E! Check out these delicious girl's shoes.

I am so impressed with my Romano's and I will definitely be a return customer. The only advice that I will offer is order big. These sandals were a little snug on Dexter and he has tiny feet. Dumb me should have known better!

Livie and Luca were generous enough to offer one pair of shoes to one lucky DSSM winner! How awesome is that? Please head over to their website and pick out the pair of shoes that you would like to win. Come back here and tell me the name of the shoe and which size you would need!

Original Sprout Review and Giveaway {CLOSED}

WINNER is comment 229

A couple of weeks ago I was approached about doing a review for a company called Original Sprout. As an eco-conscoius mother and a blogger I was surprised that I had never heard about Original Sprout before. I was more than happy to review their products especially because they are ALL NATURAL!!

When I went to their website I was blown away by their full disclosure of ingredients. It is really rare to find a company that discloses all of their ingredients. Worry Free Luxury means no natural or synthetic ingredients associated with estrogen enhancement, hormone disruption, cancer & autism such as: Lavender or Tea Tree Oils, Citrus Oils, Clove, Soy, Phthalates, Dioxanes from Sulfates, Parabens, Formaldehyde, Propylene Glycol, Dipropylene Glycol, Acetaldehydes, Styrene, Toluene, Glycol Ethers, Ethylene Oxide, Musks, Nonylphenol, Mineral or Petroleum Oils, Triclosan, Eurethane, 1-2 Propylene Oxide, Placenta or Synthetic Colors.

This, to me, is a winning company. I was eager to try their products for myself. They sent me a wonderful assortment of products to use and I must say I am impressed. The first product that was easy for me to fall in love with was their Miracle Detangler.

I have very fine, thin hair and it knots easily. I have a hard time keeping it nice and smooth. This Miracle Detangler really is a miracle. I didn't need very much and it sprayed on easily and I was able to comb through my hair effortlessly. This product is also 100% vegan for those of you out there that are hard-core animal lovers!

Original Sprout's Hair and Body Baby Wash is also amazing. I have said it before and I will say it again, I LOVE a baby product that will double as a shampoo and body wash. If you have/had toddlers you know how hard it is to bathe them. They want to splash and play, not get clean! What I really appreciate about this product, other than the fact that it works, is the fact that it smells sweet and tender. It smells like a newborn baby ought to smell. I cannot wait for baby #2 to come along so I can bathe him/her in this luxuriously rich Baby Wash.

I could go on and on about all the products that they sent me but I don't have all day. The Scrumptious lotion is a must buy not only because it is on sale but also because it is easily absorbed by the skin and it contains organic rosemary which is a natural bug repellant! Try it for yourself and see why Original Sprout is so fantastic!!

Original Sprout was beyond generous to offer one lucky reader with an Original Sprout Deep Conditioning Gift Basket. The basket includes a 12-oz Natural Shampoo, 12-oz. Deep Conditioner, 12 oz. Miracle Detangler, 12-oz. Leave-In Conditioner, and and 8-oz. Scrumptious Lotion worth over $122!!

What I would like you to do is visit Original Sprout and tell me which product you are most eager to try of theirs. Also tell me one eco-friendly fact from their website! Try to impress me, you may get brownie points for doing so!

The Boy's Store Review and Giveaway {closed}

Winner Comment #129

When it comes to dressing my son I have a no hold barr approach! I love dressing him and when I find a store that makes this task easy and affordable, I am all over it. Recently I was introduced The Boy's Store. The Boy's Store is unique in the fact that it sells all boys clothing!! Us mothers with only sons know how rare that is! Most boutiques cater to girly clothes but not The Boy's Store!

What I LOVE the most about The Boy's Store is the fact that you can easily narrow your search for clothing. They have search categories such as brand, item, age, basics, American made, Organic and Sale. How awesome is that? I can search for 2T organic American made clothing! What a dream come true!

Suzanne, the owner of The Boy's Store, sent me the cutest organic cotton outfit for Dexter. It is made by Kiwi Industries and it is produced in the USA!! Yay big business and yay The Boy's Store. Check out cutie pie Dexter sporting his new outfit.

The karate pants are so soft and comfortable. Dexter wanted to wear them all day long. I thought it was cute how they have a little lime green kiwi bird sown in to the leg of the pants. They retail for $24 but are on sale right now for $16.80. The matching shirt is $16 and worth every penny. This shirt is true to size and washes very well. Like the matching pants, it is extremely soft and made in the USA! My husband also commented on how cute the shirt was. He normally isn't into kiddish clothing so this compliment was saying a lot!

Here are a few of my favorite items that The Boy's Store carries:

Whether you are looking for pants, underwear, shoes or sunglasses for your little man, look no further than The Boy's Store. You will not be disappointed!

How would you like to win a $30 Gift Certificate to The Boy's Store? I knew you would. Well today happens to be my hubby's birthday and the first full day of Spring. To celebrate Suzanne is offering one of you a $30 gift certificate to her store. Please head over to The Boy's Store and pick out your two favorite items that you would buy with your gift certificate. Come back here and tell me in your comment which items you like most and don't forget to include your email address! Think of this as a sweet way to start thinking about Earth Month (April!)

be present Review and Giveaway {Closed}

Winner Comment #10

On my quest for the perfect organic yoga clothing I came across be present.

be present is quite a company and quite a thought. Being present means being aware and that is what we, as people, strive for isn't it? To me being present means living for the moment and not letting opportunities pass me by. It means enjoying my children as they are because Lord knows they grow like weeds. No matter what be present means to you, embrace the philosophy and show your spirit.

be present has created a line of yoga wear that is eco-friendly and display the colors that represent the different chakras. Need more grounding? Red is root chakra, attributed to stability and inner strength. Want to feel sexy? Orange is sacral chakra, associated with being sensual. Big day ahead of you? Yellow is solar plexus chakra, associated with energy and increased confidence. Need a hug? Green is heart chakra, associated with compassion and unconditional love. Feeling shy? Blue is throat chakra, associated with increased communication and creativity. Want to be psychic? Indigo is third eye chakra, associated with the unconscious self. Need wisdom? Purple is crown chakra, associated with wisdom and the spiritual world.

I was lucky enough to review the Chakra Ribbed Tank($29). They sent me the green tank and I love how earthy the color is. It is not obnoxious or bright, its inspiring. The tops are made from 50% rPET and 50% Organic Cotton - if you are unfamiliar with rPET, it is a fabric made from recycled plastic bottles. Each top produced diverts 3-5 plastic bottles from a landfill, therefore eliminating unnecessary waste! The organic cotton is pre-shunk which makes them a snug fit. I like that they are snug because it doesn't take away from the poses at all. One other thing that I love about be present is the fact that their clothing is made in the US! That means more jobs and less outsourcing! That really is eco-friendly at its best!

Today is your lucky day because one winner will receive a Chakra Ribbed Tank of their very own. Please visit be present and tell me what color and size you would like to win. Also please tell me one other product of theirs that you really like! Don't forget your email address in your entry!

Little Green Books Review and Giveaway (Closed)

Winner is Comment #226 K

National Reading Month is an important time to start showing your children that books are fun. It doesn't matter if your kids are 1 or 21, all children should know how to read and love doing it! I could site and watch Dexter play with his books all day long. He loves thumbing through the pages and "reading" all of his books. Amazingly, at the age of 2, he is starting to read little snippets here and there! I am impressed!

In celebration of St. Patty's Day, I would like to show you some Green. Little Green Books that is!! I was recently sent a few of their books to review and let me tell you a little more about them!

Little Panda and Little Monkey are Dexter's favorites of the bunch. They are made out of cotton and recycled Polartec® fleece. This makes them machine washable and perfect for car rides! In Little Panda there is a line that reads "funny Little Panda makes a funny face!" Every time I read that line Dexter laughs really hard! That cracks me up because he is actually understanding what the word funny means. Another part I love in Little Monkey is a part that reads "fast and spunky Little Monkey makes a happy sound" the words "La La La" are written on the page up in the picture. Dexter points to the La La La and says it before I can! Too cute!

All of these amazing Little Green Books is made out of recycled materials and are printed using soy and vegetable based inks! I love how Earth friendly they are! You too will be excited about these amazing books. Your child will learn how to grow a garden, recycle and other earth-friendly activities by reading these Little Green Books. My house loves our books and I know yours will too.

One winner will receive one of each of the 5 books that I reviewed and an Earth Day poster. Head over to Little Green Books and tell me the Title of you favorite Little Green Book. INCLUDE your email address if it isn't in your profile or your entry won't count.

Look Who is Coming Book Review and Giveaway

Now that you know that March is National Reading Month and you have the opportunity to win an exciting eco-friendly children's bookcase I would like to help you fill your new bookcase.

Just recently I was sent a copy of Look Who is Coming to review with Dexter. This book is personalized just for your child! There are pictures of different cars driving to your house for a party. Each car/truck/bus has a flap in which you insert a familiar picture for your child to discover. Seeing as though my parents live far away, it was a no brainer to have a picture of my Mom in one car and my Dad in another. Dexter loves saying their names and was ecstatic to see them in his special book. Look Who is Coming is really easy to personalize. Watch this short video to see for yourself.

You can order your copy of Look Who is Coming today for $13.99. A portion of the proceeds of each sale is given to Autism Research and Special Education programs!

One lucky winner will receive their very own copy of Look Who is Coming. Just tell me who would be coming over in your book.

Tidy Books Review and Giveaway {CLOSED}

March is National Reading Month and I am here to celebrate with you. Seeing as though I am a Highly-Qualified (thanks to NCLB) Elementary Reading Teacher it is no surprise that I was reading to Dexter well before birth. When I was pregnant with him I use to read "Oh Baby the Places You'll Go" I loved that book so much and I know Dexter loved it too because he would kick and wiggle when I would read it. It was our special time. I have to admit that Dexter owns over 100 books. I could easily say 150 but I don't want to sound obsessive! He loves Sandra Boynton, Eric Carle and Dr. Seuss to name a few. Up until recently his books were housed on a shelf that was easy for him to reach. At least once a day he would charge up to the shelf and clear all of the books off in one fell swoop. It drove me batty! I knew there had to be a better way to organize all of Dexter's books. The search lead me to Tidy Books and I fell in love at first sight!

Look at most of Dexter's board books all nestled into his beautiful Tidy Books bookcase!

This wonderful bookcase is made from sustainable sources which is very important to me! It also comes in your choice of four colors; white, blue, pink or natural. You also can choose from upper case letters, lower case letters or no letters. I chose the natural color with lower case letters. I love how adorable the bookcase is, with or without books in it! The amazing part is that this bookcase can also hold up to 85 books of all shapes and sizes. That is a lot of books. I have limited the number of books that I store in the bookcase to about 35. This is because I don't let Dexter play with all of his books because he isn't always so nice to them. I want to preserve some until he is a little bit older and more responsible.

The Tidy Books bookcase is shipped flat and must be assembled upon receipt. This took my husband about 15 minutes to do. Real easy! Another feature that I LOVE about this bookcase is the fact that it affixes to the wall so that kids cannot pull it down on them self. It only sticks out a few inches! So not only is this bookcase handmade by the sweetest lady in the UK but it is made with Sustainable Materials and it is adorable. Plus Plus Plus in my book!

I cannot tell you how much having the Tidy Books bookcase has changed the way Dexter not only treats his books but also how he picks out which books he wants to read. I am absolutely sure that you would love to own one of these beauties yourself, wouldn't you? All I ask is that you visit Tidy Books and find one item or fact that you would like to share with me. It can be anything. If you are creative, you may get an extra entry from me!

Activeion HOM Review and Giveaway

I was recently lucky enough to review the Activeion ionator HOM. What is Activeion you ask? Activeion is a whole new way of cleaning with just pure tap water! How does this clean anything you ask? Let me get all sciencey with you and explain.

The Science Inside the ionator.
The ionator HOM™ and ionator EXP™ are virtually the only cleaning and sanitizing products in the world without chemical-related health warning labels. The technology driving the ionator products has been used for decades in food processing plants, four-star restaurants, and large hotels. We’ve simply taken this technology, miniaturized it, and made it affordable for everyday use.

1. Charging
A water cell applies a slight electrical charge to the tap water.

2. Transforming
The charged water passes through an ion exchange membrane, creating an oxygen-rich mixture of positive and negative nano-bubbles.

3. Cleaning
The ionized water now attracts dirt like a magnet and lifts it from the surface, enabling it to be easily wiped away.

What I like about the Activeion HOM
*Takes normal tap water (which is free) and converts it into a electrical charged cleaner
*Kills viruses including H1N1
*Sanitizes and Disinfects countertops in lightning speed
*Safe to use around children and pets
*Partners with Healthy Child Healthy World
*Can use it to clean up my child after dinner (I will elaborate)
*Cleans virtually all surfaces including carpeting!
*MADE IN THE USA

The Activeion ionator HOM retails for $169 and it is said to last 3-5 years. It is was to last 5 years, that is an average cost of $33.81 a year or $2.82 per month! Tell me you don't spend at least that on just one cleaning product!

Back to the cleaning of child: After dinner I use to take a paper towel (not so eco-friendly-shame on me) and wet it to clean Dexter's hands and face. Now, all I have to do is spray is face and hands with the ionator HOM and wipe clean with a cloth napkin. It works like a charm. He thinks it is too funny! Why do I love it? I love it because it not only gets him clean but I don't have to worry about him opening his mouth because there are no chemicals. It is purely water!

Science and Technology finally meet innovation and safety! I am so impressed and I know you will be too! I would love to give one lucky reader the chance to win one of their very own. All I ask is that you tell me what you use now to clean your house (name a few products) and tell me the first thing you would clean with the ionator HOM.

BedVoyage Review and Giveaway {closed}

Winner Comment #106-Madeline

Do you remember a few months ago when I introduced you to BedVoyage? You can read that post here to refresh your memory. I sleep on my bamboo travel sheets every night and I am in love with them as much as the first night I slept on them!

Just recently they sent me their newest addition to the BedVoyage family-their Travel Blanket! This 100% bamboo travel blanket measures 40" wide by 70" long. It is the perfect couch wearing blanket. It is undeniably soft and easy to love and care for. Machine wash this blanket just like any other blanket. Bamboo is amazing because it is not only sustainable but anti-fungal and anti-bacterial. I urge you to read more about bamboo here.

I love this blanket a lot. In fact, Dexter and my husband fight me over the blanket every night. I rarely get to use it myself because one of them is usually snuggled up beneath it. My suggestion to BedVoyage would be to make this blanket big enough for my bed! I want to sleep beneath it nightly!!

You can purchase your travel blanket for only $39.99 at BedVoyage.com. That is a total steal!

Today is your lucky day! BedVoyage would like to offer one winner their very own Travel Blanket! All I would like you to do is head over to BedVoyage and find your favorite bamboo fact to share with me. Come back here and leave your fact in your comment.

Happy Green Bee Review and Giveaway {closed}

I love organic anything, especially when it comes to children's clothing. The colors are always so nice and the items are so different. I love having Dexter playing with other kids who wear clothing that is always so different from his. Happy Green Bee is no exception. They make the brightest, most stylish, organic kids clothing. I recently was lucky enough to review their reversible hoody in Watermelon/Sky.

Its the hoodie on the left in the picture. I think it looks adorable on Dexter but my husband thinks its a little girly. What does he know anyway!? The hoodie is so soft and comfortable. I adore the bright colors and the wonderful construction. This hoodie will last a long time. It is very durable. Another thing I love is the fact that it is reversible. Say Dexter spills something on his hoodie, all I have to do is turn it inside out and voila, a "new" shirt!

I thought all of you would like to know a little about organic cotton farming and why it is important. I got this information directly from the Happy Green Bee website.
Organic cotton is especially great for infants and children. Whereas pesticide and chemically-treated clothing traps heat and prevents skin from absorbing adequate moisture—often causing rashes and eczema on sensitive skin—organic cotton is natural and breathable. Children with allergies particularly benefit, as organic cotton does not have the residual toxic residues that linger on conventional cotton. Even those without sensitive skin find organic cotton more comfortable and kid-friendly. The longer fibers stretch as children grow.

The best way to support organic cotton farmers is to use your consumer power wisely and support those businesses that make their products sustainable from the farm to the store. For example, Happy Green Bee—a company producing organic cotton playwear for infants and children—creates children's clothing and accessories made with nontoxic dyes and no chemical bleaches or finishers. In addition, Happy Green Bee products are made in fair-trade-certified factories that are monitored for worker health and safety.

Whether shopping for kids clothing, sheets, blankets or personal care products, look for organic fiber products. Your children—our planet's future—will thank you.

The lovely people at Happy Green Bee would love to give away one of their organic tees. Head over to Happy Green Bee and pick out which size and color tee shirt you would like to win. I, myself, purchased one of every color that they had in large since they are such a steal right now! You can't go wrong with $4 for an organic cotton tee! Clearance rocks!

Safety 1st Complete Air Convertible Car Seat Review

1 in 4 car crashes involving children are side impact collisions. They are by far the deadliest type of collision for children, accounting for 1 in 3 child fatalities; nearly all of which are caused by head trauma. These are frightening facts, but Safety 1st has been by your side for 25 years providing innovative products to help protect your child from becoming a statistic. It is in this tradition that we proudly announce Air Protect™ side impact technology.

I was recently sent the new Safety 1st Complete Air Convertible Car Seat for review. My husband just got a new car and with that we were in need of a new car seat. From the moment the Complete Air Arrived, I could tell it was different. I love how big it is. To me, big and heavy automatically mean safe. My husband took the car seat out of the box and set it on the couch. Dexter immediately ran over to the couch and climbed in his new seat. It was love at first sight!

Here is a little background about the new Complete Air Car Seats:

*Air Protect™ Revolutionary Side Impact Technology: Breakthrough system shields head and immediately reduces side impact forces through the precise release of air
*QuickFit™ Harness System adjusts harness height from the front in one easy step without uninstalling from the car
*Harness accommodates children up to 50 pounds
*One Click LATCH installation system allows for faster and easier installation when moving between vehicles
*5-position adjustable headrest easily accommodates your growing child
*Removable cup holder

At first I thought that the side air head protectors would limit Dexter's vision and therefore frustrate him in the car but boy was I wrong. He loves his seat. I have a DVD player in my car and my husband does not. Dexter use to always LOVE car rides with me. Well, ever since he got his new seat, we always wants to ride in Daddy's car. We always ask him which car he prefers and he always says "Dada Car". Is it comfortable for him? Look at these pictures of Dexter and tell me what you think.

Comfort at its finest. So not only is Dexter comfortable, but he is very safe! That, in my book, is an A+! Notice the cupholder in the 2nd picture. I love that this removable cupholder isn't flimsy at all. It is very sturdy and Dexter is able to access his sippy cup very easily. This is a big deal because the car seat in my car has an awful cupholder and I am always chasing his cup down!

So why air protect technology you ask? Safety 1st explains “Through the precise release of air, Air Protect™ shields children from side impact intrusion and immediately reduces crash forces at the most critical spot: around a child’s head" I encourage you to check out the other videos on their website that highlight the Complete Air Safety features. I am so impressed with this carseat and I know you would be too if you had complete peace of mind that your child's safety was just that, safe!
