RecipeNut by Hormel Giveaway

Everyone knows I love to eat.  That certainly is no secret.  Lucky for me my husband is a talented chef but still there are a few comfort foods that I like to make for myself.  Some of them remind me of college and some of them remind me of childhood.  One of those, the hormel cheese football dip is no exception.  More on that later....

How do you keep your recipes organized?  You'd die if you saw my notebook with pages dangling from it.  It is so disorganized it isn't funny!  Just yesterday it took me over 25 minutes to find my banana bread recipe.  Oh Lordy!  Thank Goodness RecipeNut is here to help!

The recently launched RecipeNut, located at www.recipenut.com and sponsored by Hormel Foods, is a one-of-kind website that allows you to personally collect and manage all of your recipes, even those you find on other websites. A social network for “RecipeNuts,” the site enables users to identify and follow other users with similar dish, cuisine and ingredient preferences, rate and review recipes and share their favorites via Facebook, Twitter and e-mail.

In conjunction with the site launch, RecipeNut is asking Facebook fans to share their favorite recipes and the stories behind them for a chance at nearly $2,000 in prizes.

The contest kicks off at http://www.facebook.com/RecipeNut on September 27th and entries will be accepted through October 11th. Simply fan or “like” the page, submit a name and description of your favorite family recipe and the story behind it as well as an image of the note card or page that it’s printed on.  Ten finalists will be selected and fans can vote for or “like” the entry they think best exemplifies a truly treasured recipe. The winners will be announced on the RecipeNut Facebook page on October 25th

I would love for my readers to take part in this wonderful contest and make me proud!

In celebration of the launch of RecipeNut, Hormel would like to offer one of my lucky readers the chance to win a goodie basket worth over $30!

What do you have to do to win?  You can do one of three things: highlight your favorite family recipe that uses a Hormel product, tell me how you plan to use the contents of the prize pack in a recipe or how you will utilize the RecipeNut site.

One winner will receive the following goodies from Hormel/Recipe Nut:

·         Hormel® Always Tender® pork product coupon: Hormel® Always Tender® products are all pre-marinated for superb tenderness, juiciness and flavor, so there’s no prep time and no cleanup required. Available in more than 40 varieties.

Save Big with Pampers Kandoo + Giveaway

It is no secret that Dexter is potty training learning and each day is unique with new challenges and triumphs.  In our house we not only use toilet paper but we also have wet wipes handy for dirty jobs!  I grew up using them so it is second nature to have them at the ready in the bathroom.  Up until a few months ago I was using our flushable wet wipes on Dexter and then I discovered Pampers Kandoo flushable wipes!

Dexter loves the fun "ribbit" frog on the package and I love that they clean so well.  In fact, Pampers touts that they clean 30% better than toilet paper alone.  Check out this Sunday's Brandsaver for a $1 off coupon to try Pampers Kandoo wipes yourself!  The Pampers Kandoo coupon will be part of a Pampers Diapers page in the P&G Brandsaver (which will be pink in support of October being National Breast Cancer Awareness Month!)

Today is your lucky day because you can enter to win a fun Kandoo prize pack with wipes and coupons.  There will be three lucky winners!

Just head over to Kandoo's Facebook Page and Like them and tell them DSSM sent you!  Its that easy!  Comment here telling me that you like them on FB and commented.

1800FLOWERS Review and Giveaway {closed}

Congrats to Emma, Comment #90!

September is National 'Pleasure Your Mate' Month.  Nothing makes my husband happier than when I am happy (especially now that I am super pregnant) so I decided to review a Junior's Heart Shaped Cheesecake from 1800 FLOWERS!

I literally cannot tell you how delicious this cheesecake is.  It is moist, rich, decadent and oh-so-sinful!  One thing that I found incredibly unique about it was the fact that it didn't have a crust.  It did, however have a thin cake layer under the cheesecake which made it stand out from other cheesecakes that I have eaten in the past!  The whole cake was dipped in chocolate and the edges were rolled in mini chocolate chips.  RICH!  I also have to admit that I am not the biggest cheesecake fan but this has converted me to a cheesecake lover!

One other thing that I really need to point out is the fact that this beauty is HUGE!  So big in fact that I ate on it for a few days and was still able to freeze almost 1/2 of it and bring the other 1/2 to work.  You would have thought my co-workers had died and gone to heaven.  I had several request the information to order their own.  It fed about 10 people there and they all raved about it for days!

WIN IT: One lucky winner will receive a $40 Gift Certificate (Savings Pass) to 1800 FLOWERS.  All you have to do is fan me on Facebook.  (My goal is to reach 350 by the time I have the baby!)

Barbie A Fashion Fairytale DVD Review

When I was little I owned so many Barbies.  I had all of the clothes and accessories.  I really loved her friends Ken and Skipper too.  There were no Barbie movies when I was little so when my niece was born 5 years ago I started buying her Barbie fun stuff!  YAY!

Fast forward a couple of years and now that I am a mother, I can spoil my little ones like crazy with fun toys and movies.  You can imagine how much fun we had with a movie premiere at our house complete with 2 year olds, 3 year old, 29 year olds and a 38 year old MAN!  I will tell you that the movie was a bigger hit than the popcorn (and that never happens).

This movie's premise is based on hard work and authenticity.  I love that the message helps young children believe in themselves.  In the movie, Ken breaks up with Barbie over the phone (typical guy) and Barbie then flies to Paris to help her Aunt who happens to be hosting a Fashion Show.  While in Paris, Barbie meets 3 Flairies who happen to make clothing awesome by glittering them up!  This leads Barbie to an amazing idea to help save her Aunt's show.  I don't want to give too much away so you will have to check out this movie for yourself.
Barbie, A Fashion Fairytale is targeted for children ages 7 and up (even though my little ones thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it) and is available at leading retailers nationwide on September 14th, 2010.  For more information about this DVD or other Barbie products visit www.barbie.com. Barbie, A Fashion Fairytale is currently on sale for $12.99 at Meijer (Retails $19.98)

**I was provided a review copy of Barbie A Fashion Fairytale in cooperation with Mom Select.  I was not compensated in any other way.  The opinions expressed within this article are mine and were not influenced in any way**

Safety First Snack and Scribble Booster Seat Review and Giveaway {closed}

Congrats to Kathleen, Comment #96

Dexter has always been a really good eater.  He sits and eats (when he is hungry) but when he is full, its all over!  The older he gets the more I try to stress sitting at the table and waiting for Mommy and Daddy to be finished.  He could care less about manners and being polite.  He just wants to PLAY!  This was a great frustration of mine until I tried the Safety First Snack and Scribble Booster Seat.

This genius booster seat not only allows your child to dine at the table like a big boy (or girl) but it also has a snap-in insert that allows not only your child to unleash their inner Picaso but will also allow you to finish your hopefully not already-cold dinner!  The seat comes with the 2 position height-adjustable seat, 3-position tray, the magnetic board insert, mirror, stamping toys and slide eraser.  This seat also has small snack holders on either side to make coloring more enjoyable.

As you can see, Dexter being 33 pounds and 35 inches isn't too big for this seat at all.  In fact we use it every day for all of his meals as he belly ups to the table.  He seat is comfortable for him and it is portable!  Think about a nice dinner out at your favorite restaurant with your toddler who is encapsulated with his "draw draw".  Who doesn't love that?

The only thing that I am not too crazy about is the belt.  It is a Y shaped belt that wraps around the child and snaps in the front.  The front closure isn't always easy to open as you don't pinch the snaps to open it, you push a button.

This seat is a life-saver and it retails for $29.99.  You can buy it on Amazon for $26 Safety 1st Snack and Scribble Booster Seat, Yellow (affiliate link) or you can WIN IT!

Have a child that could use this fun and useful seat?  Tell me here one other Safety First product that you would like to own and you are entered.  You must also follow me on GFC in order to enter.
