How I Use Scotch Tape for My Crafty Projects

Thanks to Scotch(r) Double-Sided Tape for sponsoring my writing about crafts. Add your comment below to be entered for a chance to win a free roll to help with your upcoming holiday needs. 10 of you will win!
I love teaching Dexter how to cut, paste, glue, draw, tape, paint and create fun projects. I enjoy watching him learn new things by expressing his creativity! About a month and a half before Oliver was born Dexter and I set out on a project. We made a count-down chain. You know the ones you made when you were little? Oh yeah, those! Check out the countdown-to-baby chain.
Wanna know how I did it?  With double-sided Scotch tape; thats how.  There are three types of tape in our house: masking, duct and Scotch.  Thats it.  Dexter loves tape, a lot!  He really enjoyed this project.  We even wrote little messages to the baby on each paper link.  Dexter insisted that I draw hearts (because he is obsessed with them) and I wrote things like "can't wait to meet you", "Oliver Thomas Smith", "We love you so much", "Daddy, Mommy, Dexter and Oliver = <3"  This was a very wonderful time that I spent with Dexter and it got him very excited to meet the baby!  We got to meet him with only 4 links left in the chain!
Wanna win a roll of double-sided tape compliments of 3M?  Just tell me your favorite way to use Scotch tape.  10 of you will win!

Free Butterball TURKEY Giveaway!! {closed}

Congrats #17, Lunachique!

Ok I want to start this post by saying that I am really sorry that it has taken me so long to get back in the groove of blogging.  My stats have dropped a lot since I went on bedrest because taking care of one's very pregnant self and a 2.5 year old is hellacious.  No joke.  I thought I had seen it all, really.....UNTIL today!

Its been really cold here in Michigan.  I like cold weather but cold as in 55 not cold as in 30.  Well last night I caught a chill.  I thought I was just cold so I shook it off after taking some ibuprofen.  I went to bed and woke up just fine!  Well, this morning my rockin' in-laws took Dexter to their house for the day for some much-needed attention.  The chills returned so I did what any person would do....turned up the heat.  That didn't work.  Long story short...I have mastitis!  I am running a 103.9 degree fever and here I am blogging with a hot water soaked diaper on my bewb.  Lucky me!  Why is it so hard to do the right thing (breastfeeding) (my opinion, don't ridicule me please).

I am going to make this short and sweet!  WIN A FREE BUTTERBALL TURKEY!  This is going to be a Twitter contest as I really would like to grow my following.  I will draw the winner on Monday morning at 9am EST to ensure shipping for the holidays barring any USPS BS.  Visit Butterball and learn how to make a party out of Thanksgiving.

To win just follow me and tweet "@royaldixie I want a free Butterball Turkey!  My favorite part of the turkey is _______ http://tinyurl.com/2fxv6jk Ends 11/22"  You can tweet up to 3 times a day but you must leave your Twitter URL in the comments of this blog post in order to qualify.  Do I even need to tell you that today my favorite is NOT the breast!

Receive an extra entry for Facebooking this contest with the URL leading back here.

Just so you know how pimp I really am, I was given two coupons to giveaway but I decided to give one to a very needy family who otherwise might not have turkey on Thanksgiving.  I also donated some other food to them too so it wasn't just a protein holiday.

Coupon is only good in the US....Sorry to my friends from the North!  GOOD LUCK....CONTEST STARTS NOW!!!

**I received a free turkey coupon in exchange for my post.  The coupon did not influence what I would write (especially the mastitis part).**

Savvy and Seeryus Holiday Gift Guide Day 6-Breathe Right Giveaway {closed}

Congrats to Comment #25!

How do you keep your family healthy while traveling for the holidays?  That is the question.  My family doesn't typically travel more than a mile for the holidays so I don't have to worry about that.  What I do have to worry about it getting plenty of rest and fluids around the holiday (and I am not talking Egg Nog!) This is one way I keep myself sane and healthy during the holidays.  How else do I keep my family healthy?  I make sure that every one takes their vitamins every day and I breastfeed Oliver.  Breastfeeding helps to build his immunities and protect him from illnesses!

My husband often snores and it drives me nuts.  I hate kicking him in the middle of the night so he stops but sometimes I have no choice.  What I do know is that Breathe Right nasal strips make short work out of stopping the snore!  I thought that this was the best way to use Breathe Right until I noticed that a lot of NFL players use them while they play football.  I love love love football so I appreciate that Breathe Right helps them to breathe well enough to win games too!

Want to win a $50 gift card to R.E.I. or Travelocity? All you have to do is share some of your own tips and tricks for maintaining a healthy, happy family while on-the-go or traveling this holiday. Then follow @Breathe_Right on Twitter and add the #HappyFamily and hashtag to your tweet.  Come back here and leave the URL to your Tweet.  I look forward to seeing all of your great tips!

I bet you want some extra entries too don't you greedy?

What Brings Comfort and Joy to My Life?

When I think about how lucky I feel on any given day I can't help but be comforted by the life that I lead.  I have always dreamed of being the mother of boys and surrounding myself with legos, trucks and dirt.  My dream has come true.

Most of you know that 3 weeks ago I gave birth to my second son, Oliver.  He is so tiny and perfect and looking into his eyes warms me throughout.  Dexter has been a handful lately but there are times when Dexter comes over and tells me that Oliver is "toot" that melt my being.  They are the loves of my life and I couldn't be happier.  Joy always seems to rear it's head when my boys are around and my house is constantly filled with joyful noise!

Recently both boys had the stomach flu and that was not an easy feat dealing with this in our house.  There are a number of things that help comfort me when I am sick and those things would be chicken noodle soup and instant mashed potatoes.  Weird, I know but that is what works.  My husband, being the talented chef that he is makes unbelievable chicken noodle soup.  I love homemade noodles!  It didn't take long for Jason to get to work on some soup for Dexter.  This made me smile because it helped to make him feel better and watching him being comforted by his Daddy brought Joy to my day!  Lets talk about the strange affinity I seem to have for instant mashed potatoes.  I don't know where that came from but it is something that ALWAYS makes me instantly comforted.  I heap it into a bowl and put an insane amount of real butter on top to create butter puddles!  YUMMY!

I have this amazing memory from childhood that revolves around Cream of Broccoli soup.  When I was young I really hated going to the dentist.  What kid doesn't?  Well to lessen the blow my mom always made Cream of Broccoli soup for me to make me feel better because it is one of my favorite things in the planet.  I remember one time I was all numb and I tried eating my liquid gold but it kept dribbling out of my mouth.  That didn't stop the soup from comforting me but it did slow how fast the reward could be shoveled into my mouth!

I am not sure why food always seems to be the comforting things in my life but I am glad that simple things can bring such pleasure to me and my family.

Savvy and Seeryus Holiday Gift Guide Day 5-ThinkGeek Giveaway

I love pigs!  Not because they are pink or cute or cuddly but because I lurve me some bacon!  I am all about bacon fat, chocolate-covered bacon, bacon and eggs, bacon topped muffins and so much more.  Since I love bacon so much isn't it appropriate to surround myself with people who love the same things I do?  Um, yeah!  Enter ThinkGeek.

Who wouldn't want their child playing with My First Bacon?  He has an animated mouth and says "I am bacon!"  If I had an animated mouth I would say back to him "and I will eat you".  Don't want your child playing with bacon (party pooper) then how about a bacon-scented candle?  For the diva in us all how about bacon lip balm or bacon soap?  I could go on and on but you get the point.  ThinkGeek rock the bacon and I think that makes them rock!

Last year I reviewed some ThinkGeek toys and now the time has come to show you some more ThinkGeek fun!  I love legos and have since I was a kid.  When I visited ThinkGeek and saw their amazing Lego toys collection I knew I just had to have them.
LEGO Digital Camera

This 3 megapixel camera is not only cute but also functional.  Actually, this LEGO Digital Camera puts the fun in functional!  Dexter had an amazing time running around taking pictures of his own.  It was fun seeing things from his perspective.  I also really like that it is very durable so I don't have to worry about him dropping it on the floor.

LEGO MP3 Player

I am not gonna lie.  I gave my 2 year old an iPhone because he loves to play games and listen to music.  The only thing that really frustrates me about it is the fact that he isn't that responsible at his age to shut it off when he is done using it.  This MP3 player is fantastic because I don't have to worry about him doing that as it charges quite quickly and it provides up to 8 hours of play time!  YAY!  It also holds up to 500 songs.  That is quite impressive especially with a price tag of $39.99.

The final product that I got to review (and fall in love with) is the Boogie Board LCD Tablet.

Think of this Boogie Board as a Etch-a-Sketch on steroids.  This writing tablet is super awesome.  With just a flick of a button you can write and erase messages.  I like to use this to write my grocery list on and I have also drawn on it.  Dexter got a huge kick out of erasing my messages Grrrr!  I think that this is one of the coolest gadgets I have played with!  Remember those weird writing tablets (definitely not electronic) that had a plastic wrap over a black cardboard piece and you would just draw on the plastic wrap and it was impress into the black background?  This kinda reminds me of this but way cooler and with batteries.  Speaking of batteries, ThinkGeek touts that the battery that is provided with the Boogie Board will last for 6 years if this is used and erased 20 times a day!  Amazing eh?

My friends at ThinkGeek would love to give you one Boogie Board to make that special kid on your Holiday List happy.  How cool is that?  All I would like for you to do is head over to ThinkGeek and tell me your favorite item that they carry (that I haven't reviewed before).

I suppose you want extra entries too don't you?  These are worth 1 entry unless otherwise noted.
