Loving Yourself Again After All These Years

When someone is overweight chances are there are underlying reasons why.  For me it is because even though I really like getting out and seeing the world by hike and by bike I have let the last few years of Mommyhood get the best of me.  I would snack late at night, I would drink late at night and I didn't really give much thought to the calories in versus calories out thing.

Another thing to consider was the fact that I was waiting tables for the last 15 years.  That's right, since I was 15!  I love interacting with people and I love the instant money.  What I didn't love was the late night "lets grab some beer and wings" that happened on a content basis.  I wouldn't get out of work until 10 or so most nights and I would indulge in late night eating and drinking.  The weight piled on.

Forward to June 18th when I took on the Cinch Challenge.  Since finding out I was selected, I quit my waitressing job and have now spent the majority of my time outside at the beach, riding my bike and just frolicking.  I have fewer pounds and a killer tan to show for it!  I am sad that I let myself go mentally and physically for so long.  I guess being a parent doesn't make me a prisoner.  In fact, last weekend we all went camping!

Two weeks from today is my 31st birthday.  Hopefully I can meet my first goal by then.  Shortly thereafter is my friend Kelly's wedding.  I ordered my bridesmaid's dress a size small to give myself some incentive to lose a little extra weight.

By this time, 6 months from now, I am going to take some pictures of me at Christmas with my beautiful boys and a whole lot less of me!

Cinch Week 1 Results

When they say "It's a Cinch" they mean it.  I have fat girl mentality.  I love to eat any and all food and I adore cocktails and sugary lemonade.  I haven't met a food I won't try and if I like it, I eat it until it is all gone.

Last Monday I started the Cinch program from Shaklee.  What a day in the life of Cinch looks like for me:

Breakfast: Cinch shake made with vanilla soy milk and 1c. frozen fruit (peaches, blueberries, raspberries) *You can also have a Meal bar if you'd rather
Snack: Cinch Energizing Tea and a Cinch snack bar
Lunch: Cinch shake made with vanilla soy milk
Snack: Something full of protein (low fat cottage cheese, string cheese, peanut tofu, celery w/natural peanut butter etc).
Dinner: 600-700 calorie dinner  I have eaten these dinners over the last week.  I had chicken and brown rice bowls with sautéed vegetables mixed with siriacha and plain greek yogurt, 3 tacos with homemade pico de gallo, cheddar cheese, lettuce and plain greek yogurt on whole wheat tortillas (I like things VERY SPICY so I also use Habenero sauce on my tacos!) and glumpkies.

With Cinch you also take a 3-in-1 boost pill with each meal to help boost your metabolism.  You can order yours today and receive 15% off!

So I bet you are dying to know how my first week went.  Well I am proud to say that I am down 5 pounds and I lost 1.1% body fat as well as gained .3% of muscle.  I lost an inch in my waist, .5" in my bust and .5" in my arms!  YIPPEE!!!

How hard is it to stick to the diet? Surprisingly for me, not at all.  I enjoy the quickness and ease of breakfast and lunch and I look forward to a nice healthy meal with my husband (who has lost 11 pounds last week!)  I also like that our grocery bill has gone down since I am replacing 2 of my meals with shakes or bars!

How do the shakes and bars taste? I love the shakes so much!  The strawberry and Cafe Latte are AHHHMAZING!!  The chocolate is nice and the vanilla is scrumptious when blended with frozen fruit!  The chocolate peanut butter meal bar is delicious with a cup of coffee and the snack bars are totally a treat.  I think the taste of the supplements makes a BIG difference and allows me to be more successful.

Are you hungry throughout the day?  No!  That is surprising, isn't it?!  I cannot believe how much I don't feel like eating all the time.  I am usually quite the snacker.

If you have any questions for me, ask me below or email me at and I will address them in a Q&A post soon!

You can follow Shaklee on FacebookTwitter and Pinterest to learn more about their amazing products.

Thanks for your unwavering support and encouragement!

#Cinchspiration Day 2 Recap

Day 1's workout was so hard that I woke up today feel SORE!  That certainly didn't stop me from enjoying my workout today.  I have a lot of energy today and I not only did Pilates and Cardio Blast but I also ran outside with the kids, played in the sprinkler and did a few extra trips upstairs.  I am using the FitBit to track my steps, stairs and sleep so I can be more aware of my movements!

Today I never felt hungry or deprived.  I realized that I needed to spread my food calories/allotted portions out throughout the day to fuel my workouts and help keep me going.

Day 2 Food:
Breakfast: Vanilla Cinch Shake mixed with 1/2c frozen blueberries, 1/2c frozen raspberries and 1c low fat vanilla soy milk (I won't use my Healthmaster again for this.  It was too thick but still tasty!)
Snack: 1 cup of last night's dinner leftovers
Lunch: Cafe Latte Cinch Shake mixed with 1c almond milk (AWESOME!)  Dexter thought it smelled like carmel.
Dinner: Tofu/Chicken stir fry with lots of veggies and brown rice.  Then I tossed in a LOT of sriracha and plain greek yogurt!  What a treat!

I was having a hard time not not having something sweet to eat tonight (or a beer) so I drank a glass of water and brushed my teeth.  The urge subsided and I was able to concentrate on some work!

Today was a success and I anticipate many more successful days to come!  I am not sure if I want to weigh myself until next Monday!  That will be a surprise in and of itself!

Shaklee #Cinchspiration Day 1 recap

Yesterday was Day One of my 6 month Cinch Challenge.  I did died through a 45 minute Yoga for Weightloss DVD and stuck to the program 100%.  Was it hard?  No!  The hardest part was working out.  It is in the upper 80s/90s here in Michigan with 70% humidity.  That coupled with no AC makes working out HARD!

One thing that will keep me going is this:

And cry, my nearly 65 extra pounds of fat did.  I felt glorious afterward and then after my shower.  Today I was sore but I worked through it with a Pilates/Cardio Blast DVD.

What I ate on day 1:
Breakfast: Chocolate Peanut Butter Cinch Meal Replacement Bar with black coffee (YUMMY)
Lunch: Strawberry Cinch Shake mixed with low fat almond milk (AHHHMAZING!)
Snack: Lemon Cranberry Cinch Snack Bar and Energizing Cinch Tea (The bar was taste and refreshing and the tea was not my favorite by any means!)
Dinner: Chicken/Tofu Stir Fry with Bean Threads, Bean Sprouts, Broccoli, Soy Sauce, Mushrooms, Water chestnuts and Honey Ridge Farms Sweet Chili Glaze (oh yeah BABY!)

I drank over 100oz of water and stuck to my guns! Overall I am loving Cinch!

My Big News!! Team #Cinchspiration

Good Morning!  Today is the first day of the rest of my life!  Two weeks ago I got some incredible news.  I was told that I was selected to be a Shaklee #Cinchspiration Blogger!  What does that mean exactly?  In short, 50 bloggers will transform their lives using the Cinch weightless program.  Read the great announcement on Shaklee's blog!

Today is the first day of the diet.  I have lost weight with your support before and I am ready to do it again (for the LAST TIME!)  I am mentally prepared this time for the whole journey.  My husband is 200% on board as well so I will be less likely to fall/fail.

Now this is the point where you might want to close your eyes and stop reading until I tell you the coast is clear.  The following pictures aren't for the faint of heart.  Hopefully if you are skinny you can look at my pictures and remind yourself what could happen if you stop caring about yourself and eat and drink as if it were your last day on Earth.  They might help you.  For my fellow fat Mamas, I hope that by bearing my heart&soul and my FA you might want to start a personal journey yourself.  No matter how you choose to relate to me please just help support me through your Facebook comments, blog comments and Tweets.  The next 6 months will NOT be easy!

Without further adieu, my BEFORE pictures....

Every Journey must begin somewhere and my Cinch™journey starts RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW!
Any advice or encouragement you can give me?

Father's Day Reflections and Gift Ideas

These past two weeks have been nothing short of crazy. About 6 weeks ago I was told that my Dad has prostate cancer. I did what any daughter would do; I cried. Whenever I hear the "C" word, I can't help but think the worst. My Dad, my hero, my first love, my best friend....has CANCER!!! The time came for his surgery and my husband and I packed up the boys and headed to Milwaukee. We planned on staying for 5 days to help him recuperate and then we would head home. Little did we know some unforeseen circumstances would arise and we would end up staying for 11 days!

What do you give a man for Father's Day who needs nothing more than love and care? My dad is a simple man who would be content if I gave him nothing at all. I usually give my dad a fantastic bottle of scotch.  We aren't talking a $40 bottle either. I usually give him a fifth of Johnny Walker Blue. It costs around $150 and is a cherished addition to his liquor cabinet. I always make him a card to which he usually gets teary but this year I did something different. Besides procure some adult diapers and ointment to aid in his surgical recovery I bought him something that would make him feel good about himself.
I got him a bottle of Eau de Lacoste Red. This cologne is suppose to be masculine and timeless and just what the doctor ordered in the self confidence department after a prostatectomy!  I know I always feel like a million bucks after I shower, apply a little makeup and put on some nice clothes.  Why shouldn't my father feel the same amount of self satisfaction?

No matter what you decide to give your Dad for Father's Day, let it come from the heart.  He loves you no matter the gift you send (or not!).

Here are some pictures of my Dad from the last week post op:

My Dad with Dexter and Oliver.  He sure is quite the musician

4 generations!  My 96 year old Grandmother along with me, my Dad and the boys

I have some big big news to share with all of you come Monday so be prepared.  There will be contests, excitement and some truly horrific pictures!!  I hope you are ready!  HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!!

HAHA!  I have to wear Depends True Fit diapers!  Even in the worst of situations my Dad knows how to laugh.
