Staying Motivated through Unexpected Life Events

I will spare you the gruesome photos and gory details but trust me when I say that the 12 stitches in my heel that I have been sporting for the last 15 days have been unwanted and unwelcome.

15 days ago, I had just put my kids to bed {plus it was Dexter's first friend sleepover} and my husband and I were spending a quiet evening on our front porch.  I came in the house to get some more water and a snack when the wind blew the door shut and unfortunately, my heel was caught in the action.

We had to call my Father in Law to come and drive me to the ER because, lets face it, who wants to haul THREE kids there?!  Not me!  He came right over and off I went.  The next thing I remember was "here are your crutches, you aren't to bear weight on your foot for 2 weeks!"  That was a blow.  A big one!  I am training for a 5k and I don't have time for that!  UGH.

Now for the AMAZING news....When I was in North Carolina, I spent nearly 70% of my time in my swimsuit.  I wore it, without a cover up, everywhere.  I wore it to the pool, the beach, the playground, around in the golf cart and I never once had that "gosh I feel fat" attitude.  It was a revelation and it felt really good!  Having Shaklee 180™ with me was a god send because I was able to stick with my healthy eating habits and help inspire those around me to eat better too!  Win-win!

Stay tuned for a recap of the Cherry Festival 5k that I am running on July 6th!  I look forward to joining my friends and fellow bloggers in this event that will not only bring us closer but will also help put another nail into our former selves' coffin!

You are awesome. Way to rock the suit and to have that confidence!

Oh Maggie you poor thing! I saw the photos and they were yucky! I am so glad you felt good in a bathing suit. I spent years with a shirt over my suit and now I feel much better!

Well, the best thing to come out of this is that you know you are completely addicted to keeping fit! I've been in your shoes, its not easy on your body (or psyche!) when you suddenly have to stop being active. I hope the stitches coming out have improved things! And yay! on the swimsuit - My husband bought me a 2-piece, I didn't have the guts to wear it this past weekend :)
