Chula Vista Resort in Wisconsin Dells is a Great Family Getaway

The Wisconsin Dells is an action-packed town in the middle of nowhere Wisconsin.  They are known for their massive amount of waterparks!  Growing up only a couple hours away, we visited a few times when I was young.  I was really excited to have the opportunity to share the Dells with my family.  We love to travel and do it as much as we are able so taking on the 9 hour drive from Lower Michigan was no challenge.  In fact, we stopped in the UP and stayed with my family a few days before and after our stay to break it up a little.

One of the many resorts in this summer-bustling town is Chula Vista Resorts.  Chula Vista is in a nice secluded area just a short drive to downtown Wisconsin Dells.  Chula Vista has a spacious resort complete with indoor and outdoor waterparks, a golf course, mini golf and so much more.  The resort itself has so many restaurants and bars on the premises that there is no reason at all to leave.  Chula Vista also has the largest indoor water roller coaster, the Flyan Mayan, in the world!

ACCOMOCATIONS:

We stayed in one of the two bedroom golf villas during our stay and not only was it spacious, but the views were incredible.  The kids shared a bunk bed in the upper loft and Jason and I could have shared a nice, soft bed on the first floor but we opted for getting our own queen bed {now thats vacation!}  One of my favorite parts of the villa was the huge eat-in kitchen.  We ordered pizza one night and had leftovers that we were able to keep in the full size fridge for enjoyment the next day.  If you wanted to be on a budget, you could definitely cook and eat everything in your room but we decided that vacation was vacation so we left the cooking and cleaning to Chula Vista and we did not regret that decision one bit!  The resort offers shuttles from the villas to the waterpark and main hotel area but its also a short walk on a nice day.  We utilized it mainly for the kids because at 3 and 5, they still have a hard time walking after a long day of splashing in the waterparks!

DINING/DRINKS:

When at Chula Vista Resort, you are never far from a bar or on-site restaurant.  Margarita’s Mexican Grill & Cantina, alongside the wave pool, has very tasty margaritas and beers.  We had a few appetizers there and not only did my husband and I enjoy them but the kids loved the food too-BONUS!  You can have drinks by the lagoon at the Cactus Bar & Grill or several other dining options include: Market Fresh Buffet, Big Moe’s Restaurant, Howler’s Sports Bar, Luigi’s Pizzeria, Market Fresh-To-Go, Crash Landings Snack Bar, and Kaminski’s Chop House.  Howler's has a fantastic Happy Hour daily with food AND drink specials that can't be beat.

Our favorite place to dine was Kaminski's Chop House.  We love fine dining and we thoroughly enjoy a very nice meal. Kaminski's was exactly what we were looking for and much, much more.  We ordered steak, of course, and it was cooked to perfection! We ordered Nueske Bacon for an appetizer and it was rich, flavorful and the fat was melt-in-your-mouth awesomeness.  We really loved that.  The sides are served family style and they are absolutely humungous.  Look at the loaded cheesy mashed potato compared to my hand!! I ordered a fish special and it was good but no where near how delicious my husband's steak was so next time, I won't hesitate to order beef!  The martinis were refreshing and delicious, too!  All-in-all, I would highly recommend dining at Kaminski's Chop House even if you aren't a guest at Chula Vista because it truly is that good!

WATERPARKS:
The setup and layout of Chula Vista's waterparks is awesome! They thought of everything here.  There is so much space to rent a cabana, lay out in the sun, ride the huge slides, enjoy their wave pool and so much more.

Lost Rios, their 80,000-square-foot, multi-level indoor water park in is home to the country’s fastest indoor water coaster-the Flyan Mayan. You can hang around the Mayan Ruins in the rapid lazy river, play as a family in the huge interactive kiddie play areas, or splash around in the Lava Lagoon activity pool.  With over 80,000 square feet of indoor water park fun, your family will find that Chula Vista Resort is the perfect escape. No matter what the temperature is outside, Chula Vista Resort has you covered.

Honestly, this was one of the best vacations that my family and I have ever taken. We laughed a lot, swam a lot and made some amazing memories! We had a blast! Its pretty spectacular to think that this resort is in the middle of farmland USA in Wisconsin but it feels like you're at a HUGE destination! I highly recommend adding Chula Vista to your next travel agenda when you are traveling in the midwest!
