Fall Back in Love with Yourself

Fall is a wonderous time of year.  The leaves change color, the weather chills and people typically go into "hibernation mode".  Fall is a renewal of energy for me and I really enjoy the tshirt and jean weather.  I like it more now than ever because I am wearing pants that are considerably smaller than they were last year and every year before.

Many people start eating more and moving less in the Fall and I know why: comfort food.  When the weather gets colder people tend to crave comfort foods like spaghetti, chili, mashed potatoes, pot roast, lasagna, mac and cheese and the like.  Its hard to deny that most people feel this way.

The weather here in Michigan is still very, very nice!  It is still in the 70s and the days are filled with sunshine.  I love wearing my Fitbit Flex everyday as I love to track my daily steps and stairs and I love taking Oliver for walks while Dexter is in school.  We try to walk at least 2-3 miles each day and its a nice way for us to connect.  He talks to me about the world around him as everything is still new and exciting since he's only 2!

I have learned how to make healthy comfort foods to help my waistline stay in check.  I made shephards pie recently but instead of mashed potatoes on top, I used cauliflower.  It was delicious!  Staying healthy isn't a chore, its a decision and one that I am happy that I dedicate myself to.  I adore breakfast.  It is my favorite meal of the day.  Most days, I cannot wait to make myself a Shaklee smoothee.  That says an awful lot about Shaklee as their smoothee mixes are delicious.  I like to use 1 scoop of vanilla smoothee powder and 1 scoop of strawberry smoothee mix and combine that with 1 cup of skim milk, 1 frozen peach and a 1.2 tsp of organic vanilla extract!  It is heavenly!  My other super favorite breakfast is 2 scoops of Shaklee's vanilla smoothee mix with 1/2 cup of frozen black cherries and 1/2 tsp of almond extract blended with 1 cup of skim milk.  That is by far the best way to start the day!!
