Tis the Season to Lose Weight (and be Jolly)

Its funny that since I am the one behind the camera, there are very few pictures of me.  This one wasn't taken that long ago and I love how happy me and my husband look!  We were kid-less for the afternoon and that doesn't happen often!

Now that the holidays are upon us and the food is before us, I thought it would be a good idea to discuss stress eating and holiday eating.  I don't know very many people who can resist their Mom's cooking.  I am married to a chef and my MIL is a fantastic cook herself so when the holidays roll around, I know there is food abound.

Here are a couple of pointers that I keep in mind for the holidays so my diet doesn't go out the window:
  • Eat a little something before heading to the office Christmas party.  This helps so you aren't starving once you arrive and end up eating way too many treats!
  • Watch the alcohol.  Alcohol is full of empty calories and there is no reason why you can't imbibe if you so choose.  I like to drink one full glass of water with each cocktail and one glass in between to help keep me full and hydrated without getting all tipsy.
  • Pick wisely.  When you are at a party or over to someone's house for dinner, there are always better and worse choices.  Creamy dip or hummus, apple pie or cream pie?  Always choose the lightest options so you can still participate in the party and festivities without busting your waistline.
  • Enjoy yourself!  Don't deprive yourself of everything you want or you will end up inducing too much!  Everything in moderation.
  • I like to make sure I carry at least one Shaklee 180™ snack bar with me to munch on and keep me full so I don't stray too far away from my diet while out and about.
What are some tips you have for staying on track this holiday season?  I would love to hear your thoughts and suggestions!!

I'm all about moderation like you said. If I try not to eat my favorite foods at all I end up binge eating later. I try to fill up on the good stuff and then give myself a "treat".
Thanks for all the tips!

Such great tips on how to remember the serving sizes of some of my favorite foods! I know the holidays are usually the hardest time when it comes to eating right!
